Under the theme of an "8K World is Coming," Sharp US introduced our latest 8K ecosystem to North America, including the latest high-resolution image technology, and related products and solutions.
NAB Show is an annual trade show held by the National Association of Broadcasters that has taken place in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1991. It regularly attracts over 100,000 visitors from all aspects of the broadcast TV, radio, streaming and data management sectors.
It was the perfect location to introduce North America to our latest 8K innovations. On our stand we exhibited our first small-type 8K video camera, along with our wider 8K ecosystem equipment from image input to output, comprising our 8K camcorder, 8K editing equipment, and 8K monitor.
The Sharp 8K Wall
The focal point of the stand was the Sharp 8K video wall. Comprised of 16 screens it was a stunning centrepiece and introduction to the world of 8K.
With a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels, a total of 33.18 million pixels per display, the 8K UHD video wall offered 16 times more detail than Full-HD, and four times the image quality possible with 4K displays. The PN-V701 (4x4) video wall has a size of 21,28 m² and you will see the most realistic image and precise picture quality.
8K Video Demonstrations
Using the Sharp 8C-B60A 8K (60p) 8K professional camcorder, visitors to the NAB Show 2019 were able to see multiple demonstrations of 8K in action. The camera integrates video shooting and recording, playback, and line output in one device, making it ideal for those who need an easy all-in-one solution.
8K and Broadcasting
We demonstrated how our 8K ecosystem of camcorder and monitor can be used for local broadcasting, showing how 8K self-broadcasting systems can be used in such places as stadiums and arenas, as well as other public areas.
We also showcased how 8K live images can be shared for transmission or streaming over 5G, allowing for the latest news or events to be broadcast in the highest resolution possible without delay or lag.
8K and Youtube
The future of broadcasting is recognised to be online, and to celebrate how Sharp 8K is leading the way, we demonstrated how YouTube bloggers could quickly adapt their setup to 8K, filming and editing images direct on our 8K camera and uploading to YouTube with ease.
What’s more, we also had a great time when vloggers YouTubers Josh Yeo, Gerald Undone, Gene Nagata, Matti Haapoja and Dave Altizer visited us on the stand to discuss everything 8K.
Next-Generation 8K Camera
We couldn’t come to NAB Show without showing visitors a prototype of where we believe the next innovation in 8K will arise, so we displayed a compact 8K video camera prototype, which will make 8K available more widely.
The compact camera features a Micro Four-Thirds mount and a CMOS sensor capable of delivering 8K resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels at 30 fps using the H.265 codec. The bitrate for 30p 8K recording is 200Mbps. The prototype proved incredibly popular on the stand.
As was highlighted at the show, the Sharp 8K ecosystem is quickly evolving, putting innovation at the forefront of everything we do. If you would like to know more about 8K, Get In Touch.
