The Sharp BIG PAD range is well-known for offering a great touch experience on a large interactive display. However, the BIG PAD PN-40TC1 is the smallest and most compact interactive display in the range yet. It is built around a 40-inch widescreen TFT LCD with 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution and an active screen area of 878.1 x 485.3mm, making it ideal for smaller meeting spaces. The overall weight of the device is 17.5 kg, so it can be easily wall-mounted.

Although smaller than the other BIG PADs, the PN-40TC1 still offers Sharp’s Pen-On-Paper experience. This describes the overall user experience that Sharp is proud of. BIG PAD is a powerful tool, but it must be attractive to use and to be that a presenter must feel comfortable and confident with the technology. Pen-on-Paper describes the effortless and natural writing experience, the advanced annotation software and premium build quality that is built into every BIG PAD. For example, in the PN-40TC1 the smooth glass surface offers best in class tactile comfort, with 10-Point P-CAP Capacitive Touch for confident and intuitive interactivity.

Huddle Spaces offer flexibility in the workplace, which is why we have fitted the BIG PAD PN-40TC1 with the most flexible array of connections possible. On the back you will find computer inputs that include Analogue RGB and Mini D-sub for those with legacy devices, while the two HDMI (HDCP and 1080p compatible, PC/AV signal compatible) ports and DisplayPort (HDCP compatible, PC signal compatible) cover the latest connections.
The LAN port supports 10Base-T/100Base-TX, while the two USB 2.0 ports allow you to easily connect devices to the BIG PAD. There are twin 10W speakers for watching and participating in presentations and conference calls. There is also a 3.5mm mini-stereo jack for a headset.
What’s more, an integrated Mini OPS extension slot has been added to let you add additional functionality. Mini OPS is a newer and smaller version of the popular OPS (Open Pluggable Specifications) format and has been developed by Sharp and Intel. By inserting an optional Wireless Board, for example, mobile devices such as laptops or tablets can then be wirelessly connected to share content and control functions, without the need for any cables.

Collaboration is about sharing ideas and information as quickly and seamlessly as possible, which is why the BIG PAD PN-40TC1 makes the most of Sharp Pen software, which has been specifically optimised to work with the BIG PAD touch controller hardware. Handwritten notes on the screen can quickly be turned into text and saved using the screen's handwriting recognition function, allowing you to use onscreen content to make neat and legible copies of your notes. Documents and slides can be saved either to your own network or linked to a cloud-based server, such as Sharp’s Cloud Portal Office (CPO).
