Sharp presents new bifacial N-Type TOPcon glass/glass solar modules for roof applications

Sharp Energy Solutions Europe is expanding its product range with four new photovoltaic modules designed specially for the requirements of on-roof systems. The bifacial NBJG445R and NBJG450R modules have a white coating on the backsheet between the cells which increases efficiency through light reflection. In the NBJG435B and NBJG440B modules, the inter-cell spaces are black to enable an elegant, consistent black product design.

Maximum yield from the roof
The new PV modules offer output of 435 W to 450 W and utilise modern bifacial technology, allowing them to extract energy from both sides of the module and thus increase efficiency, especially in environments with reflective surfaces. The bifacial factor is φ Pmax = 80 (±10) %.

Fitted with G12R half-cells in a 96-cell configuration (2 x 48), the modules achieve efficiency of up to 22.52%. The temperature coefficient for the power output is -0.29 %/°C.

Guarantees and longevity tests
The solar modules come with a 25-year product guarantee from Sharp for on-roof installation and a 30-year performance guarantee with a performance of at least 87.5 % in year 30, which is valid for installations in the EU and various other countries. The guarantee commences on delivery of the module to the end customer and is provided by Sharp Electronics GmbH in Hamburg, Germany.

The two-sided glass coating on the modules provides increased stability and optimum protection against external influences such as moisture, temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress. The modules have been awarded IEC seals (IEC 61215 and IEC 61730) in recognition of their safety, quality and longevity. The modules have been subjected to strict tests in order to meet international standards and withstand extreme conditions and have successfully passed the tests for ammonia, salt mist, sand and PID resistance. The modules have also passed the strict EN 13501 ‘reaction to fire’ test and thus proven their extraordinary safety and reliability.

Simple handling and good compatibility
The modules are 1762 mm long, 1134 mm wide and 30 mm deep, weigh 25.0 kg and have a cable length of 1270 mm. The glass thickness on the modules is 2 mm each.

These specifications make them the ideal choice for simple installation of on-roof systems on residential buildings and small-scale commercial and industrial on-roof systems, with seamless integration.

The modules are fitted with an MC4 connector in order to guarantee compatibility with a wide range of standard optimisers and inverters.

Environmentally-friendliness and recyclability
Sharp’s new glass/glass modules are all about environmentally-friendliness. Glass can be melted down for recycling and reused without restrictions.

Andrew Lee, Vice President Commercial Operations SESE at Sharp Energy Solutions Europe, comments: “There is currently huge demand for dual glass modules for on-roof systems. With the introduction of our new bifacial modules, we are reinforcing our commitment to sustainable energy solutions and offering our customers products that are pioneering in terms of both performance and aesthetics."
