At Sharp, our environmentally friendly products are known as "Green Products (GP)". Each year we update our GP Standard Sheet, setting fresh goals for our environmental performance across our products. The document guides our design teams with seven core environmental principles, ensuring all our creative efforts stay aligned with the Sharp Eco Vision 2050.
With our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050, we created a global structure specifically to monitor and adapt to changing regulations. We want to ensure we are always a step ahead, so we don’t just meet but exceed compliance requirements.

Printers & Photocopiers
Our printers and photocopiers are designed to enhance eco-performance so we are always meeting, if not exceeding, national energy regulations. They support the use of recycled paper and offer carbon footprint details for each product.
A4 Range
We have developed our A4 range to lead the way in energy efficiency, with up to 35% power reduction in ready mode and up to 70% when asleep.
They also boast a lower Total Energy Consumption, with a 28% reduction in TEC compared to other generations.
A3 Range
Our A3 range is built with long-term sustainability and efficiency in mind. We have lowered the Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) values by 8-25% compared to previous models for significant energy savings. Plus, the automatic toner eject feature ensures cartridges are fully emptied before removal, reducing waste and minimising replacement frequency.
Plus, we’ve extended the life of the developer to match the device’s lifespan, while the photoconductor now lasts 25% longer, reaching up to five years with regular use.
Audio Visual
We strive to make all our Audio Visual (AV) products energy-efficient and high-quality. So, we have equipped as many as possible with energy-saving features, including ePapers, displays, and projectors..
ePaper
Our ePaper solutions are battery-powered and optimised for ultra-low power consumption, making them a sustainable choice for digital displays. This technology is designed for exceptional energy efficiency, consuming zero watts while displaying content and using only minimal power during content updates.
Displays
Sharp/NEC displays come with several energy-efficient and sustainable features. These features include an integrated Ambient Light Sensor that automatically adjusts brightness based on surrounding light levels. Plus, a Human Sensor adjusts the display’s power based on a user’s presence, which helps businesses reduce CO2 emissions by over 30%.
Additionally, our displays are preset with energy-saving modes to prolong display life even for users who may not regularly adjust settings. We are also committed to recyclability: our Digital Signage Displays are 97.4% recyclable minimising environmental impact and supporting a circular economy.
Projectors
Featuring energy-efficient, solid-state light source technology, our laser projectors are virtually maintenance free. Requiring no replacement lamps and benefiting from a range of energy saving features, long-life laser projection is highly sustainable, minimising waste and reducing costs.
Our new projectors are designed to utilise the same lenses and mounting infrastructure of legacy ranges to reduce waste when upgrading performance levels. Through continuous innovation we’re introducing projectors that consume 10% less energy than their predecessors.
Services & Solutions
Our software and solutions promote sustainability by reducing print waste and providing better control over resource use. Through these tools, we encourage responsible printing practices and help organisations track and reduce their environmental impact.
Synappx Cloud Print
Our Synappx Cloud Print software makes sustainable printing easier and more intuitive. It offers visual reminders that encourage users to print only what’s necessary, reducing paper, toner and energy use.
By promoting responsible printing habits, Synappx Cloud Print gives businesses greater control and insight into their print activity – perfect for hybrid workplaces and remote setups where print needs can vary.
Job Accounting II
Job Accounting II provides in-depth tracking of print usage and environmental impact, presenting data in customisable reports. These reports can include details like Tree Count, CO2 emissions, and energy consumption, offering a clear view of the environmental costs associated with printing.
By providing such valuable insights, Job Accounting II empowers organisations to make data-driven decisions that support their sustainability goals, making it easier to integrate eco-friendly practices into everyday operations.
Solar Modules
Our solar modules are engineered to maximise both sustainability and energy efficiency, setting higher standards in renewable energy performance.
Efficiency
Achieving up to 22.84% energy efficiency, our standard solar modules ensure optimal energy generation per square meter in diverse settings – residential, commercial, and free-field installations. Advanced triple-junction solar cells reach a remarkable 32.65% conversion efficiency for specialised application efficiency. These solar cells are robust technology suited for demanding environments, tested in extreme environments such as JAXA’s lunar exploration mission in January 2024.
Our tandem junction and silicon-stacked cells set a new benchmark delivering 33.66% efficiency, for ground breaking performance and reduced environmental impact.
Solar module features
Recyclable materials: Our solar modules are constructed from environmentally friendly materials such as glass, aluminium, and silicon, all of which can be efficiently recycled at the end of their lifecycle
Long-Term product guarantees: We stand behind the durability and performance of our modules, offering:
- A 25-year product guarantee for on-roof installations, and a 30-year performance guarantee, maintaining at least 87.5% efficiency after 30 years for installations within the EU and other regions
- A 15-year product guarantee for open-space installations in the EU, which increases to 25 years for on-roof systems
